  • The length of therapy varies by individual need. Therapy is not a quick-fix. We do advise that you be willing to explore your thoughts about the number of therapy sessions. Our therapists will create a unique treatment plan for your child and review it with you for each 3 month period that your child is in therapy.

  • Our therapy sessions are typically once per week. Please note - if your child presents with self-harm or suicidal ideation, we do require that he or she meets with us at least twice per week.

  • Your therapist will provide your child and family with skills to navigate difficult emotions, identify problematic patterns, and assist you through negative life experiences.

For your first therapy session, plan to begin building rapport with your therapist by addressing your likes and dislikes, presenting concerns, relationships with friends and family, school life, what you plan to accomplish in therapy, and more. You can also feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

Please note - therapy is a process. Some therapy sessions may leave you feeling emotional because you are working through tough life experiences. Your therapist is with you every step along the way to support you.

  • Outside of therapy sessions, you can review therapeutic homework (if any).

Please do not pressure your child to discuss what they discussed in therapy. Instead, please field questions to our trained therapists.

Please note: We do require that parents of minors meet at least once per month with their child’s therapist. Parent meetings can be flexibly scheduled.

  • Please talk to your child's therapist about his or her resistance to attending counseling sessions.

Our therapists are more than willing to problem-solve and explore barriers to counseling.

If our therapists are not the right fit for your child or family, we are more than willing to provide referrals.
