Why Choose A Master’s-Level Counseling Intern?

Two Professionals. One Shared Goal: Helping You Thrive.

Choosing a therapist for yourself or your child is a big decision. If you've never worked with a master's-level counseling intern before, you probably have questions—and that's completely understandable.

At HoneyTree Therapy Center, our master's-level counseling interns don't work alone. Every intern is closely supervised by our Founder and Clinical Director, Gabrielle Barrington, LCPC, throughout your care.

That means your therapist receives ongoing guidance in diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical decision-making, so you benefit from the support of both your therapist and an experienced licensed clinician.

What Is a Master's-Level Counseling Intern?

A master's-level counseling intern has completed graduate-level counseling coursework and is in the final stage of becoming a licensed professional counselor. They are qualified to provide therapy while completing supervised clinical experience required by their graduate program and the state of Maryland.

Our interns work with children, teens, and adults and are committed to providing compassionate, ethical, and personalized care.

The HoneyTree Difference

At HoneyTree, supervision isn't just a requirement—it's part of how we provide exceptional care.

Gabrielle Barrington, LCPC, is actively involved throughout treatment by:

  • Reviewing diagnoses

  • Collaborating on treatment plans and goals

  • Consulting on client progress and clinical decisions

  • Providing ongoing support and guidance to each intern

This collaborative approach helps ensure your therapist is never navigating difficult clinical decisions alone.

Why Families Choose Our Interns

Many families appreciate working with a master's-level counseling intern because they receive:

  • Collaborative care from both their therapist and HoneyTree's Clinical Director

  • Current training in today's counseling approaches and best practices

  • Personalized attention through smaller caseloads and thoughtful care

  • Affordable therapy without sacrificing quality or supervision
